The original zoo built in 1908 held many exotic species of animal for exhibition. The park was purely for amusement and expanded slowly over the years. Following the second world war, the zoo was in a delapidated state and in 1970 it was closed. After many years work, ungrading buildings and creating habitats a new BioPark emerged. Reopened in 1983 this wonderful zoo again has a future...educating, breeding and conserving many animals.
